29 weeks: bring it, nesting instinct, bring it.

So.  Things and stuff.

Second attempt at glucose test went fine – had a scare at the beginning where she couldn’t get blood again, but she just went straight for my hand and that worked for the first draw.  Not painful at the time, but man, do I have an impressive bruise now.  Then, the last 2 draws she was able to get right away from my other arm.  In the end, it all worked out.  The drink burned going down (that’s a lotta sugar, guys!), but it didn’t make me sick or anything.  Not getting to eat until 11, that did make me nauseous.  But that’s it.

I took the test 2 days ago, and still no word from my midwife office.  I’m taking that as a good sign!  I figure, chances are, if it came back with icky results, they likely would have called me already.  They’re quite on top of that shit usually.  But I’ll feel better by, like, Friday if I still haven’t gotten a phone call.

UW appointment went fine – I only have one more after this!  Whee!  The doctor up there explained why the baby is measuring so small – apparently, it’s literally just that she has a short femur.  It’s her short little legs.  Yeah.  That would be worrying, except guess what?  I have THE SHORTEST legs ever.  The doctor took one look at my legs as I held them out, and he just started laughing.  Yeah, no worries here.  Her growth for her head and stomach are exactly on schedule.  I’m just going to give birth to a hobbit, apparently.

BP was lowest yet – 108/66.  Aw, yeah.  The fact that it just keeps lowering at this stage and that I have NO other signs of preeclampsia is very, very good.  By almost 30 weeks, chances are, my BP would be rising, not lowering.  And no swelling, headaches are totally gone (they were sinus headaches, methinks, and now that the pollen is gone, I’m all good), and nothing else weird.

We picked up the crib at Ikea, along with this bed canopy because it’s a leaf, for god’s sake, and it’s adorable.  Some other odds and ends – these two rugs (the second one is in purple, not grey), a few hooks, an adorable little mobile to hang over her changing table, and so on and so forth.  We do still probably need to make one more trip after the next UW appointment, but that will be it!  Yay!

The paint has also been purchased, and Merry’s goal is to have that done by the end of this weekend where he has 3 days off in a row.  I’m so freaking anxious to get in there and nest.  MUST NEST DAMNIT.  It’s the only thing that keeps me sane and not worrying about stupid shit like childbirth details and other crap.

Not much left to buy – I have to update the baby crap entry again, because it’s really mostly filled out.  Although I still have to order the damn crib mattress.  SO LAZY.  That’s me, kids.

Hmm.  I wonder if I can still reach my toenails to paint them.  That might be an experiment for tonight.
